Sunday-Love-Day The Engagement

Welcome to EOTC’s Sunday-Love-Day series! Since this is also a lifestyle blog and I know I have a lot of Bride-To-Be’s following along I’d like to share another passion of mine with you -along with fashion and beauty- and that’s LOVE!! This is a new series I’m bringing to the blog and I hope you enjoy it as much as I do! I’m going to dive into our wedding details, engagement, and honeymoon too! I always LOVE hearing from you all so let me know the things you want to hear about the most, maybe some of the things you are struggling with as a bride, and I’ll be sure to add all the Do’s and Don’ts (of course!)! Being a Bride was one of the best experiences of my life and I want to share this with all of you!

“Love is when the other person’s happiness is more important than your own.”

Today just so happens to hit the 9 months mark since our wedding. Hard to believe that we are 3 months shy of 1 year!! Seriously??. . does time really have wings?!?! To kick off the first official Eye of The Chic Sunday-Love-Day I think it’s most appropriate to share our engagement story.

The story begins on my birthday weekend 3 years ago. Richie and I had made over 2 years of history together so far and this weekend was about to trump it all. He planned the entire weekend, first by reserving a hotel suite at the Chattanooga Choo Choo.

(The Dynasty Suite)

After checking in Friday night we stopped by Chattanooga’s Nightfall,

then dinner and some wine at the movies in the Ovation Club.

He mentioned wanting to take a stroll to the gardens at the hotel (where he thought about proposing) but we decided to go back to our room instead. He had some desert wine and a sweet birthday card sitting on the bed with flowers waiting for me. THE SWEETEST!!!! Saturday rolled around and we decided to get ready and walk to brunch. (Little did I know he was patiently waiting for the right moment and carrying my ring in his pocket!!) I took this selfie of us before leaving the hotel for brunch where you can clearly see the ring box in his pocket and I had NO IDEA!

^ Do you see the ring?!?! ^

We came back and relaxed by the pool at the Choo Choo and got ready to meet our friends at Public House for our dinner reservations.

We went out after to a couple different local spots to keep the party going.

The night ended way too soon! The sun rose on Sunday morning and I was pooped from such an amazing weekend of celebrating. I had never had such a special birthday celebration in my life!

I know you must be wondering by now, SOOOOOOO…… did he propose … ooorrrr not?!?! Well my friends, Richie had to nurse me back to life a little bit on Sunday and talked me into taking a stroll downtown at Renaissance Park. It was so beautiful all weekend long and I love being downtown Chattanooga so I was definitely happy to keep this memorable birthday weekend going. To help you picture the setting of Renaissance Park . . .

We turned onto the last pier over the river and stood there for a moment reminiscing how we’d been there before when our relationship first started. He then turned to me and said “I have one more birthday present for you.” He reached in his pocket and pulled out a small box, got down on one knee and asked me to marry him!!!! That sweet moment was the happiest of my life and I couldn’t stop reliving it in my head and thinking about our future together!

I remember as we were driving out of the park just rolling my window down and yelling “I’m Engaged! We just got Engaged!” at people in the park LOL we were ecstatic!!

We kept it a secret for a couple days until we could meet with our families and tell them in person.  I remember NOT wanting to take off my ring when I went to work the next day. We finally got to meet with our parents and tell them and made some phone calls immediately after that to tell more family such as my Nana (my only living Grandparent) who lives in Indiana and other family members.

-TIP: Always wait to let the public know you are engaged until you have told your family and close friends. This makes sharing the moment that much more exciting while your letting those know how special they are to you by seeking them out to tell them before everyone else.-

We waited until we could tell our friends in person also and it was perfect timing because we had a get together already planned with our friends for Richie’s birthday (which is about a week after mine). We had a wonderful time celebrating this new journey we were entering into of yes, our lives truly beginning together but what I’m really referring to is of WEDDING PLANNING!

More to come on Eye of The Chic’s Sunday-Love-Day!

Lots of Love Chicies,
