With Curate MedAesthetics
Ladies, (and gentlemen) let’s talk skin for a minute. . . I’ve become a little obsessed with skincare lately. If I’m being honest, the older I get the more I realize that “skin is in!” I love doing what I can to have the softest feeling, smoothest, dewiest, glow(y) looking skin and complexion! This is why I became so intrigued and excited about HydraFacials!
I recently paid a visit to the cutest local boutique spa called Curate MedAesthetics Spa. I love this place y’all! They have the sweetest and most genuine staff who make you feel beautiful from the moment you step inside. I immediately felt at home here! We decided that a HydraFacial was just what I needed to give my face a refresh for the summer. Once they explained to me more of what a hydrafacial was I was totally on board!
If you have breakouts- it can help with that! If you have dry or dull skin- it can help with that! If you have fine lines and need some more plumpness- it can help with that! If you have melasma, scarring, or uneven skin tone- it can help with that!! This is NOT just a facial guys! It’s like magic! 🙂 With HydraFacials somewhat new to a lot of us we are still learning what they even are. There is a specific machine just for the hydrafacial. A wand is connected to the machine that has a special tip on the end which makes all these steps possible.
Here is a simple breakdown of the steps:
1. Cleanse – It cleanses your entire face, pore by pore.
2. Peel – A light peel is put on your skin, which conveniently takes away the need to exfoliate your face for the next 4 weeks. (Yaassss!)
3. Extract – This step basically sucks all the blackheads and dead skin off your face.
4. A booster is applied. This step is normally an add-on expense if you choose it during your HydraFacial but at Curate they already include it in the cost for you. So the fun part is you get to choose which one of three boosters you would like to get!Â
Options include: – Britenol, for dull skin or pigment concerns to brighten and even your complexion (I chose this one to help with the appearance of melasma). – Dermal builder, this is like a topical Botox that plumps the skin where you have fine lines and wrinkle concerns. – Growth Factor (the holy grail of boosters), this puts more growth factor into your skin that we normally stop producing after we turn 25 years old. It helps your skin heal faster and produce more elasticity. – The Booster is my favorite step and I’m grateful Curate includes it in the price so you don’t have to make that decision.
5. LED Light is applied over your face which helps to improve the overall uniformity of your skin by reducing appearance of wrinkles, fine lines, broken capillaries, scars, and sun damage. LOVE THIS!
6. Hydrate. This obvious step and one of the main purposes of the hydrafacial is the cherry on top leaving your skin so soft and glowing.Â
So much goodness goes into this facial and your skin will Thank You!
Now that we know what a HydraFacial consists of here are some other Q&A’s:
Q: Does the hydrafacial hurt or is it relaxing?
A: It does not hurt AT ALL! As a matter of fact it feels so refreshing on your face! The tip of the wand that is used on your face has a swirly design that helps the solutions used during the facial go in and out of every single pore leaving your face feeling v clean and refreshed- basically like brand new! There isn’t much massaging going on during the facial but the refreshing feeling and knowing my skin was getting a complete makeover to me was just as good a feeling!
Q: Is there any downtime after you receive a HydraFacial?
A: Nope! You may have some redness but that will go away within a couple hours.
Q: Can you wear makeup before and after getting a HydraFacial?
A: You can definitely go to your hydrafacial with makeup on. Curate’s moto is “Come As You Are”. They will remove your makeup for you before starting the facial. As far as after the hydrafacial you can wear makeup but advised not to. You’ve just removed all the impurities from your face and your skin is SO happy, so why not just let it breathe at least the rest of that day without any makeup.
Q: How often can you get a HydraFacial?
A: You can receive a HydraFacial every 4 weeks if you like.
Q: Should I be aware of any special skincare tips after receiving a HydraFacial?
A: Yes! I was told Not to exfoliate my skin for 4 weeks after my HydraFacial. This was hard for me to imagine not having to exfoliate for that long because I exfoliate my skin almost every single day! At this point it has been almost 2 weeks since I received mine and I haven’t had to exfoliate and it’s been quite amazing if I do say so myself! 🙂 Also, make sure you are wearing sunscreen on your face every day! V Important!
Q: Is this only done to your face or does it include your neck as well?
A: I was pleasantly surprised when I asked Dedra, the aesthetician if she was able to do any of the hydrafacial process on my chest where I was having some breakouts and she said that she usually does go down the neck to the chest. So nice!!
Q: How much do they cost??
A: Curate’s Hydrafacials cost starts at $199-$299. As mentioned earlier they include the fee of a booster within the total cost. For $199 you have the option of the Britenol or the Dermal Builder Booster and the $299 price includes the Growth Factor Booster. They also go the extra mile to customize each treatment for the patients wants and needs so that everyone has a white glove experience. Did I also mention you don’t have to bother exfoliating for 4 WEEKS afterwards?! SOLD!
From my personal HydraFacial experience at Curate I can attest to the close attention to my specific needs they had and helped me achieve just in One Visit!! I can’t even imagine the great results I would get if I continue to regularly get these HydraFacials. It’s been almost 2 weeks exactly since I received mine and every single day that passes I can see my skin continuing to look and feel better.
Since I suffer from melasma (a kind of skin hyper-pigmentation disorder in short) brightening and evening my complexion is my main focus (along with anti-aging). So we chose to do the Britenol booster as part of my hydrafacial and every day my skin appears brighter with a more even pigmented complexion. I’m So In Love! One of the best parts of the whole thing is at the very end you get to see all of the blackheads, dead skin, and impurities inside the tube that was sucked out of your skin. It’s so satisfying!!
