So, as we have seen all over instagram and all the social platforms Fall is Here you guys! But, for real, autumn finally made it to Chattanooga and I know I’m not alone with the excitement it brings!
Now that things have gotten REAL with the temps 20-30 degrees cooler I’ve started realizing how friggin close the Holidays are getting! Yes, I said it, the H-O-L-I-D-A-Y-S are pretty much here you guys! As of now, we are more than halfway through October and I don’t know about you guys but after Halloween it’s Full-On Holiday Mode for me!
Before we all start getting out our Thanksgiving recipes and starting our Christmas wishlists let’s take a second to enjoy the Fall time.
- Oh and there’s a FREE DOWNLOADABLE AT THE BOTTOM OF THIS POST
Fall-Must-Do’s:
- Get a healthy Fall Candle to fill up your home with the cozy smells of the season. Here is the one I have currently burning in my house.
Here are some other healthy one’s by my Candle brand Obsession that are perfect for this season. They are natural Soy candles infused with essential oils. Does it get any better?
2. Make a plan for which fun fall festivities happening in your local town to attend. I.E. Oktoberfest, Go to the Local Pumpkin Patch (pumpkins are also great for Thanksgiving decor so it’s okay to keep them around after Halloween), block party, hit up a Haunted House or Corn Maze if you’re into that sort of thing, Hay Rides ect.
3. Speaking of decor it’s TIME to decorate for fall if you haven’t already! Get that Fall front porch perfected before it’s time for trick-or-treaters and it’s nice to incorporate a few things throughout the house to create an every-day fall ambiance, ya know?
4. Have a fun, spooky date-night-in either with a significant other, your girlfriends, or treat yourself by fixing some sort of pumpkin dish and/or drink and watch a scary movie or binge on a good Netflix Series. i.e. El Camino(it’s a bit of a thriller and just Good espesh if you enjoyed Breaking Bad) there’s also – Fractured; American Horror Story; Haunting of Hill House – my oldie go-to’s are Practical Magic; Scream; What Lies Beneath – I’m sure there’s many more I’m forgetting!
5. You NEED to have at least One go-to cozy blanket draped over the couch or chair to grab during those scary movies and chilly nights! If you’re feeling a little extra and want one that will last literally a lifetime then you Need to look into getting a barefoot dreams blanket (linked some below and other options). P.S. These adorable plaid-ish Barefoot Dreams blankets are on MAJOR sale right now! Grab Grab Grab!!
6. Plan a bonfire get together! Yes, the patio fire-pit counts! Prepare with a s’mores cart and fun pumpkin or cinnamon spiked drinks, and go ahead and have one of those scary movies playing on the big screen.
7. (This one is long but SOOO good!!) This time of year is also when the Flu season starts and trust me it has started already (from my N.P. sources)! Some natural ways to keep yourself healthy and enjoying the Fall season is 1) keep some ginger root and turmeric on hand and have just a little every day. Ginger is great for fighting nausea (which also makes it great for pregnant mamas out there!) and helping with pain. Ginger and Turmeric both are wonderful for fighting inflammation. Ridding your body of inflammation will always help keep illness and disease away so your immune system can more easily do it’s thing! 2) Essential oils (my best friend) are WONDERFUL. My go-to is always peppermint oil when I have headaches -It works like a charm putting it on the back of my neck! Other good ones are eucalyptus, cinnamon, lemon, thyme, and oregano. You need a diffuser if you don’t have one already! So great for essential oil use especially if they may be too strong to put directly on your skin. The diffusers linked below are perfect for setting the relaxing mood with a glowing light on top of the essential goodness you’re filling the air with. 3) Humidify humidify humidify! The flu virus thrives in dry climates and since the air always gets dryer when we have the heat going having a humidifier in the house helps so much! I’ve linked one below that can be used as a humidifier and a diffuser, it’s portable, has adjustable mist modes, works up to 28 hours, and auto-shuts off. It has an optional night light and the perfect amount of soothing noise. It has a flat easy to clean interior surface to easily prevent breeding bacteria. (Always make sure to clean your humidifier at least once a week if using it consistently) 4) Have some chicken broth every now and then to give your body and immune system all the nutrients. Linked one below that is a 6 pack and is completely organic with no antibiotics and is also high in collagen (WIN) 5) Also up your Zinc intake! You can take the tablets (the ones I linked below dissolve in your mouth and are a delicious blueberry flavor) OR try eating more foods that naturally have zinc in them like chick peas, lintels, beans, nuts, eggs, dairy. 6) Give yourself a good -steam- every once in a while. Inhaling the steam can soothe your nose, sinuses, throat, and lungs. PLUS do it when you have a freshly washed and moisturized face for extra skin benefits! You can add some essential oils or medicated vapor rubs to the hot water for extra antiviral and antioxidant benefits. 7) Get a good herbal tea to drink a few times a week. Ginger and turmeric would be my choice but also Sleepy Time Tea is SO good right before bed for natural easy sleep because 8) lots of Rest is the next best thing you can do to keep your body strong and heal fast. Add some lavender essential oil to your diffuser a little before bedtime so that the relaxing aroma has filled the bedroom once you’re ready to lay your head on the pillow. 9) That and drinking lots of fluids! Try having at least one of your 8+ glasses of water with freshly squeezed lemon a day. – – – Everything mentioned here is linked below! – – –
P.S. All of these things mentioned above are also just great to have as a routine in your everyday life to detox your body and keep a strong immune system!
8. It’s time for a Fresh Look! Why not change up your look this fall? Should you go for good hair chop, add some extensions, make it lighter and brighter, or go to a rich brown? A fresh hair change-up always adds some excitement into the new season. Remember though, whatever you do now will also (more than likely) last you through the entire Holiday season. -I mean, we ARE only about 2 months away from Christmas y’all!- So keep in mind if it’s what you want for all the holiday and family photos!
